From The East

My Brothers,

The holiday season is upon us and I would like to wish you and your families a joyous and safe holiday season!

I am proud to say, St. John's Lodge No 2 did a wonderful thing this year for Thanksgiving. We presented families in the community as well as Victory Village (a shelter for veterans) with complete Thanksgiving meals for the holiday.

THE ANNUAL ALL YOU CAN EAT PANCAKE BREAKFAST on Saturday November 25th was a huge success!! The place was packed with happy breakfast eating people. The Fund Raising Committee netted over $1300 for this event. A big thank you to Jack Crystle, Bobby Crystle, PM Frank Hartsell, Bently Carter, PM Randall Woods, Kyle Schulze, and all the brothers that help setup, work and cleanup for this event.

The Masonic Hall Company had a work party day on November 26th that proved to be productive. Special thanks to Kevin Boulware, Jason Sakeley, Greg Fowler, and Kyle Schulze for their support.

The season for giving continues!!!The next one is near and dear to my heart! This will be our 3rd year in a row of giving toys to the kids at the Ronald McDonald House. Please bring any new unopened "nice" toy (no coloring books or crayons ‐ looking for quality gifts something you would give a family member) to December's Stated Communications. Every gift submitted will earn you a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize. The winner will be drawn

at the December's meeting and the winner will have their dues paid for the next Masonic year

The Grand Lodge of A.F.& A.M. of Delaware is signed up to be part of the HERO Program with Blood Bank of Delmarva. Call 1-888-8-BLOOD-8 and make an appointment to donate. After your blood donation, fill out a HERO Card with Grand Lodge of Delaware Freemason. (This is so GL can track our success).

As we stand on the threshold of the new year with cheer, hope and joy in our hearts. I wish you, my dear brothers, a year full of happiness, health and success. Happy New Year!

As always, I look forward to seeing each and every one of you.

Fraternally Yours,
W∴M∴ Stephane (Steve) G. Sabourin, PM

Message From The Grand Master

John Marinucci, Grand Master 2017
Brethren, please allow me to introduce myself ‐ I am John W. Marinucci, Grand Master of Masons in Delaware for the 2017‐2018 Masonic Year.

Brethren, we spend too much time focusing on the loss of members and

not enough time enjoying what we have! We will manifest that which we hold in our hearts and minds. If we continue the negative dialogue that Masonry is on the decline ‐ it will be. However, if we change that to a positive message ‐ That we are a selective organization and only the best of the best are accepted ‐ Brethren, we will grow. After all ‐ who wants to board a sinking ship ‐ NOBODY. But on the other hand ‐ EVERYBODY wants to be part of an elite organization.

My brothers, Masonry is NOT on the decline as long as its most valued tenants remain within our hearts and guide us in our daily lives. And let's not allow ourselves to be distracted from the real work of Masonry by getting caught-up in a numbers game because as we continue to guard our West Gate, membership will naturally wax and wane. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as Grand Master and always remember, we have the privilege of living in the land of the free only because of the sacrifices of the brave
